DVD Duplication is simply copying the contents of a master disc onto multiple discs. This process is identical to CD Duplication, except that the data is burned to a DVD rather then a CD. DVD Duplication is a more professional and specialist process than DVDs you could “duplicate” on a home computer.
DVD Duplication is not to be confused to DVD replication. Duplication and replication are 2 different ways to manufacture identical discs. Duplication involves burning information into a DVD-R through a laser, where Replicated discs are “stamped” from a master template. Replication is generally intended for large orders, mostly 1000 or more discs. The machinery to manufacture a replicated disc is also far more expensive and labor intensive.
With that being said, DVD Duplication is great for small and time sensitive jobs. If a duplication company has several duplication towers ready, a duplication job of 500 discs could be completed in a few hours.
After the discs are duplicated the customer also has the option of print directly on the disc, generally through print screening or ink jet. The customer would also have the option to choose different types of packaging.
